What is Biblical Counseling?
We know the Bible isn’t simply a how-to book or a recipe book for happiness. We believe that the Bible ultimately points us to a person and a relationship – Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. We believe that real change comes when people learn to see themselves and their problems in the context of a living, vital relationship with Christ.
This does not mean that you must be a Christian to benefit from our counseling. Although we believe that deep and lasting change is brought about only by God himself, the Bible is never brought to bear in an artificial or heavy-handed way.

Meet sam deford
Sam brings over 20 years of pastoral ministry experience to ResoluteBC. Sam earned a degree in Biblical Studies from Southwestern AG University. As an ordained minister, he served in student, young adult, and worship ministries. In 2010, Sam became one of three founding pastors of a church plant. For twelve years, Sam collaborated to set the vision, spiritual formation, and direction of the church. While in full-time pastoral ministry, Sam witnessed firsthand people’s need for biblical counseling because it addressed the wholistic needs of each person. He realized his gifting and passion for wholistic soul care, the crux of Christian discipleship. Sam believed so strongly in the power of biblical counseling, he decided to participate more pointedly in the biblical counseling arm of pastoral ministry.
Sam and his wife, Audrey, and their five young children have lived in McKinney, Texas for over a decade. Sam and Audrey love the community of McKinney and have enjoyed putting down roots here. They are deeply invested in seeking the good of their city and the flourishing of those around them.
Currently, Sam is only offering virtual sessions, as he and his family have relocated to Philadelphia, PA for a couple years, as Sam furthers his education in Divinity Studies.
